Our Philosophy

Exceptional Care, From the First Conversation Through Recovery

At Larson Aesthetics in Newport Beach, our philosophy is to provide the best possible care at every stage of the patient experience. That means combining surgical excellence with honest communication, thoughtful planning, and close support before and after your procedure.

Led by board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. John Larson, our practice is highly specialized in lipedema surgery while also providing individualized aesthetic and reconstructive care, including breast surgery and advanced body contouring. Regardless of why you come to us, you can expect the same standards: excellence, skill, support, safety, effort, and truth.

To experience our approach firsthand, call (949) 688-7733 or request a consultation with Dr. Larson in Newport Beach. We serve patients from Orange County, Southern California, and beyond.

Care That Begins by Listening

Good surgical care begins well before the operating room.

Many of our lipedema patients come to Larson Aesthetics after years of feeling dismissed, misunderstood, or passed between providers. Others arrive knowing exactly what they want from an aesthetic procedure. We do not assume that every patient is starting from the same place.

We take the time to hear your story, understand your goals, and learn what has brought you to us. Consultations are designed to give you a clear understanding of your options and allow you to get to know Dr. Larson and our team. We want you to leave knowing what is being recommended, why it is being recommended, and what you can realistically expect.

No Cookie-Cutter Treatment Plans

Your anatomy, health, priorities, and surgical needs are your own, and your treatment plan should reflect that.

Dr. Larson does not rely on a single procedure, technique, or predetermined sequence for every patient. Instead, he develops a plan based on what will safely and effectively address your individual needs.

This is particularly important in lipedema surgery, where patients may have very different patterns of diseased fat, excess skin, symptoms, and stages of progression. Some patients require limited treatment, while others benefit from a carefully staged series of larger operations.

The same philosophy applies to cosmetic surgery, as the objective is not to fit you into a standardized procedure. It is to determine what approach makes the most sense for your body and your goals. Dr. Larson’s diverse toolbox of skills allows him to do this for each and every patient.

Safety and Personal Surgical Responsibility

Safety is central to every treatment decision we make.

Dr. Larson personally performs every stage of his surgical procedures rather than delegating critical portions of an operation. In extensive lipedema cases, this includes personally performing the liposuction, skin removal, and surgical closure.

He also believes that surgery should not be driven by marketing buzzwords or a preference for one particular tool. A board-certified plastic surgeon should be well-versed in multiple techniques and understand when each is appropriate. Dr. Larson selects his approach according to the treatment area, tissue characteristics, anatomy, and goals of the operation.

Larger procedures are planned with the same attention to detail, including selecting an appropriate surgical facility and, when necessary, postoperative monitoring.

Support Before and After Surgery

Surgical skill matters, but the experience surrounding surgery matters as well.

Our team provides detailed preoperative guidance so you understand how to prepare, what you will need during recovery, and what to expect afterward. Following surgery, we remain closely involved in your care.

For urgent postoperative concerns, our staff makes itself available after normal office hours and on weekends, and Dr. Larson provides surgical patients with direct access when needed. That level of communication is intentional. We do not want you to feel as though you have been sent home to navigate recovery on your own.

For us, concierge care means being responsive, answering questions carefully, and providing the information you need when you need it.

Compassionate Care.
Transformative Results.

A Relationship Built Over Time

For many of our patients, particularly those undergoing treatment for lipedema, surgery is not a one-time interaction.

Advanced lipedema may require several operations performed over an extended period. Dr. Larson may therefore care for the same patient through three or four surgical stages, along with the preparation and recovery surrounding each procedure.

Those experiences create close patient-physician relationships. We get to know our patients, understand how they are progressing, and adjust their care as their treatment moves forward.

Our responsibility does not end when the operation is finished. We see the consultation, preparation, surgery, recovery, and long-term result as parts of the same continuum of care.

Concierge Care for Patients Traveling to Newport Beach

Many patients travel from outside Orange County and from across the country to see Dr. Larson, particularly for specialized lipedema surgery. We understand that traveling for medical care can add another layer of uncertainty to an already significant decision.

Our team has developed a process to make that experience easier. We can help patients identify nearby accommodations, connect with trusted postoperative nursing or aftercare services, and locate providers for services such as manual lymphatic drainage when appropriate.

Virtual consultations and follow-up appointments can also make parts of the process more convenient for patients who do not live near Newport Beach.

The intention is straightforward: when you travel to us for surgery, you should feel that our team knows how to take care of you.

Excellence, Effort, and Truth

We believe patients deserve excellent surgical care, but they also deserve honesty.

Dr. Larson will tell you what he believes can be accomplished, what the process will require, and when a particular treatment may not be right for you. We would rather have a clear conversation at the beginning than create unrealistic expectations.

That commitment to truth is matched by effort. Whether we are planning a complex lipedema operation, helping a patient navigate insurance, preparing someone for cosmetic surgery, or answering a postoperative question, our standard is to give the patient our full attention and do the work necessary to provide exceptional care.
