Breast Reconstruction: Patient 2
This lovely patient had a remote history of previously placed breast implants. Unfortunately, she developed right-sided breast cancer requiring lumpectomy and post-op radiation. Due to the radiation, she unfortunately developed painful capsular contracture on her right side. This led to distortion and retraction of the breast and a change in the breast shape with resultant asymmetry. She presented to our practice for management. To address the capsular contracture, she underwent bilateral breast reconstruction with removal of her old implants, capsulectomy to remove the diseased capsule, and replacement with new silicone implants. This improved her symmetry and shape, as well as her pain. She’s very happy with her results and doing well.
